2024 saw us seep out into more of Salford, using beautiful spaces in Salford Museum & Art Gallery, Peel hall & Working Class Movement Library.
The festival’s opening show was a brand new interactive a/v performance from Hypersea, created during a 10 day Samarbeta residency in the run up to the festival. Hypersea responded to the Hybrid Futures exhibition and performed amongst the artwork in Salford Museum & Art gallery.
For Fridays afters and all of Saturday we were back in our spiritual home with back to back performances across 4 stages in Islignton mill. For the first time we used the mill's penthouse, the newley renovated 5th floor residency space with an installation from Nat Sharp and live performances from Meme Gold and Sarahsson.
On Sunday we started the day at WCML with a workshop lead by Chardine Taylor-Stone that explored British class struggle and international solidarity. We then headed over to Peel Hall for show that celebrated Mabon (autumn equinox) co-curated with Zakia Sewell with mesmerising performances from folk-informed collective Calliope, ‘wyrd folk’ multi-instrumentalist Angeline Morrison, celtic experimentalist Brìghde Chaimbeul, and the first ever European solo show for Papanese classical pianist Hiromi Oishi.
